This information will form the basis of upcoming parent workshops, to be held several evenings at EJ Martinez school as a community service by the Online Internet Institute. Watch the EJ calendar for dates and details. Teachers were introduced to the Big6 concept at our In-Service on January 2, 2002. We think that having parents, teachers and students working together, using a common language, will help improve our results.
The Big6 is an approach for solving any information based problem, devised by Mike Eisenberg and Bob Berkowitz. While it doesn't require using a computer (it is effective with a vast range of real life problems) using a computer without these skills significantly limits the ability to work effectively and efficiently. These 21st Century skills are a foundation of the Contemporary Literacy through Digital Storytelling program at EJ Martinez. Find out how to use your home computer to help your child gain these important skills.
