Article by Charles McArthur is a source  of additional information on how word processing assists students with learning disabilities and software (grammar checkers, speech synthesis, etc) that goes beyond the scope of our workshop. It emphasizes the need for explicit  instruction in such aspects of the writing process as revision, in order to produce noticeable improvements in student writing.

The School-to-Work Outreach Project (STWOP) was a nationwide, three year project funded by the U.S. Department of Education to improve school-to-work activities including students with disabilities by identifying and sharing school-to-work models/practices/strategies that work, encouraging others to adopt or replicate those models

Web site of an exemplary US DoE nation wide program that identifies and  shares models, practices and strategies that work. It has many valuable links, and the profiles of exemplary/model practices are recommended, particularly career immersion. It addresses everything from mission, goals, population served to case studies.
