The Public Cybrary

Four Directions for Lifelong Learning is a set of free activities and workshop ideas  first published in Multimedia Schools Magazine.

CyberU was the first Internet tutorial specifically developed for teachers and students. First introduced in 1995, successive years saw it distributed on almost a half million CDs worldwide.

The National Professional Development Library (NPDL) was created in 1995.  It was archived here in July 2002.  Though the public version will no longer be updated, its content is being constantly updated as part of the CybraryCard program.

OII Presentations: OII members are regular presenters at NECC and other national, regional, and local conferences. Materials and presentations given over the years are archived here.

OII Publications: Much has been written by and about OII. Information Literacy, filtering, porn-napping, and many other topics are housed here along with Ferdi's Reflection, a collection of visionary musings of Internet pioneer and OII co-founder Ferdi Serim.

FilterGate: During a workshop, OII found that their web site was being blocked by the CyberPatrol filter.  What should have been a five minute phone call, turned into a four month investigation that uncovered flawed software and almost ended in a class action law suit.

Community Connections: OII members work within their local communities to strengthen ties between the school and the community.

Porn-Napping: After discovering that cyber squatters had taken over and put up a pornography portal on a major education web site, OII posted the news, followed up with an investigation, and established a clearing house to report takeovers.
