The Partners
The Online Internet Institute (OII) is a results driven organization, which
offers professional development workshops to help students and teachers improve classroom achievement. OII provides educators with a learning environment to support integrating the Internet into their
individual teaching styles. Utilizing the Four Directions for Lifelong Learning, OII offers a combination of online and on-site collaborations in which participants develop projects to use in their classrooms.
Web-and-Flow is an online set of template based tools, and professional
development community designed by WebQuest co-creator, Tom March. It allows teachers to create quality web based activities, predicated on where they are in their
comfort levels in using the web and in restructuring the classroom
Southern Regional School District in Manahawkin, NJ, is a 7-12 regional district
that is moving toward restructuring curriculum and infusing technology across the curriculum. Southern has had technology in the district since the early 1980's but it
is only in the past four years that the technology has been recognized as a critical tool in the educational process.
In September of 1998, Art Wolinsky, Southern Regional technology teacher, OII Technology
Director and Tom March Associate, retired from the classroom and was hired as a consultant to help infuse technology through the curriculum and to train staff in effective use if technology.
The history and current status of technology integration at Southern can be found in an article titled, "What Works in Staff Development", which appeared in the March-April issue of Multimedia Schools Magazine, an article by Karlheinz Haas, Southern Technology Director, in the January 2000
issue and in the pages of this web site.
